So I need a new car, hopefully this week. I’m all set to buy the Mazda 5 I posted about last week, however at the last minute a new (cheaper) c hallenger emerged. What does oppo think of the 2005-2010 sonata? Specifically the v6? It’s about 25% cheaper and closer to me and I really just want a reliable daily with heated seats and a sun roof. I’m intimately familiar with Mazdas but my wife has a Kia and it’s been good to us so I’m looking at Japanese or Korean, just don’t want to pay Honda or Toyota money necessarily.
Not the specific car but same year/color, it's one boring bitch.

From what I know, they’re really good cars. The few people I know with them really love them.
I would get the 5 myself though....

the utility of the 5 will be worth the extra you pay, plus i t will likely hold it’s value a bit better than the Hyundai due to the smaller production numbers and smaller pool of buyers willing to pay more for something harder to find.

I’ve not heard anything bad about them - I imagine it would be a perfectly fine DD. As for the 5, I would probably go for that (as much as I am fine with the Hyundai) because I prefer vehicles with rear hatches for the extra practicality.
FYI though, that 5 looks quite modded, so I hope for your sake the mods were done properly. I’m not a fan of buying other people’s modded cars, as you never know if the mods were done right...

They’re perfectly fine and reliable, but you’d enjoy the 5 more

I’ve driven a 4 cyl version of that Sonata 1,000 miles from PA to MS and then back again. After the trip, I passively looked for a manual one on Craigslist. They’re great daily drivers. My neighbour just picked up his second one, a well maintained example with just over 300,000 and everything works great. My wife has an ‘07 Camry and I prefer those Sonatas. The throttle and steering inputs are much better in my opinion.

I have always found them to be an attractive, well proportioned, comfortable and efficient ride. I have driven a few and at a time, wanted to buy one (finances be damned). I haven’t heard anything majorly bad about them.

I do like the 5, I should clarify the one I'm buying is stock, that was just a clickbait lol. Although part of me does want to rice it out.

I’ve always quite liked them! Especially with stick....at least here in North America, how hard is it to find an MPV with a stick?! :)
